THE PURE COMPANY AIR PURIFIERS
Working with The Pure Company, I led the industrial design and engineering of a new air purifier line created for people who care deeply about both wellness and the atmosphere of their home. The goal was to create a product that improved indoor air quality while feeling intentional within the living space, something clean, calming, and visually integrated with surrounding decor rather than a typical appliance meant to be tucked away.
I developed three sizes, large, medium, and portable, each tailored to different rooms and everyday use scenarios while maintaining a consistent design language across the product family. To make the products feel more personal in the home, each purifier included interchangeable exterior wraps so users could adapt the appearance to match different interiors and styles.
The concept also introduced integrated aromatherapy, combining air purification with scent as part of the user experience. This created a new category position for the product: an air purifier that addressed both air quality and the sensory feel of a space. The result was a home appliance designed to support wellness while blending naturally into daily life and interior environments.

The design process began with fast ideation sketches and hands-on prototyping to evaluate form and functionality in parallel. Foam models helped validate scale and interaction within a home environment, while vent pattern explorations investigated ways to integrate airflow requirements into a visually refined design language.

Material exploration became a key part of creating an air purifier that felt like an intentional part of the home rather than an appliance to hide away. I studied materials, textures, and color palettes commonly found in interior spaces including wood grains, woven textiles, soft neutrals, and stone-inspired finishes to understand how the product could better blend into different environments. This research evolved into interchangeable decorative sleeves made from flexible wrap materials with a low-tack repositionable adhesive backing. The removable wraps could be applied directly around the product and swapped without leaving residue, allowing users to personalize the air purifier and adapt it to changing styles and spaces.
