ARTEMIS- NON SLIP TROCAR

During laparoscopic surgery, the abdomen is inflated to create working space, generating a pressure differential that can cause conventional trocars to gradually slip outward during procedures. This unintended movement often requires reinsertion, increasing disruption to the surgical workflow and potentially causing additional trauma to the abdominal wall.

The Artemis trocar was designed to address this challenge through an innovative retention mechanism using shape-memory Nitinol ribbons that deploy into a radial “catch” configuration once inserted. To support intuitive use, an easily deployable obturator temporarily straightens the Nitinol ribbons during insertion and removal, enabling controlled placement while minimizing disruption to the surgical experience.
